Jackalberry Lodge offers a classic safari experience that combines old-world charm and easy comfort with great game viewing. The camp overlooks a waterhole so it’s not unusual for animals to gather there while you’re lying by the pool or lunching in the dappled shade of the hacienda.
Seven thatched suites provide quiet refuge from the midday heat with outdoor showers and whirring ceiling fans, and there’s a library in the main area where you can put your feet up and get lost in African literature.
Afternoon tea is served as the light starts to soften against the Northern Drakensberg mountains in the distance, and you’d be forgiven for wanting to stay and relax in the camp to watch the setting sun. Dinners are served in the boma by the fire or in the bush lit up with lanterns and a canopy of night stars.
Unpretentious and welcoming, Jackalberry Lodge offers excellent value safari accommodation in the Greater Kruger Park area. It’s also centrally located so you can witness thrilling sightings and appreciate the diversity of wildlife in Thornybush Private Nature Reserve areas.
