Central Maintenance

In a Nutshell

As a team member of the central maintenance team, you will be required to complete various maintenance projects across the various lodges.

What you will be doing

  • Core projects from new builds to general maintenance.
  • Maintenance projects across all our lodges.
  • Preventative maintenance.
  • All projects will include a range of work from plumbing, electrical, woodwork, and metalwork.
  • You will be required to work with various fuel-based tools.
  • You may be required to lead small projects.

Technical Skills

  • Qualified in either: Plumbing or Electrical or Aircon & Refrigeration (a minimum of one qualification)

Core role – Plumbing (requirements below)

  • Extensive knowledge of plumbing in the lodge environment
  • Repairs on exciting plumbing
  • Installation of new systems
  • Borehole, water systems & any water/sewage pumps, repair, and fault-finding experience
  • Compliance requirements

Core role – Electrical (requirements below)

  • Extensive knowledge of electrical requirements & implementation in the lodge environment
  • Repair of existing DB boxes
  • Install new electrical boxes and full wiring
  • Understanding 3phase vs. single phase
  • Repairs on transformer cables
  • Fault finding
  • Compliance requirements

Core role – Aircon & Refrigeration (requirements below)

  • Extensive knowledge of aircon and refrigeration requirements & implementation in the lodge environment
  • Standard service – Cleaning, re-gassing, assess for any damaged or broken parts.
  • Installing of new A/C units
  • Removal of old Units
  • Fault finding – Gas leak, water dripping
  • Electrical fixing on units
  • Part replacement
  • Compliance requirements

As well as additional skills:

  • Building Work
  • Metal Work
  • Carpentry Work
  • Good understanding of boreholes and lodge-based water systems
  • Knowledge and application of solar-based systems
  • Working with various fuel operated tools
  • Basic Project Management

Requirements

These requirements are non-negotiable

  • Relevant certification or diploma
  • A minimum of 4 years experience in a maintenance role in a 5* lodge
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working in a high-end, luxury safari and hospitality environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Drivers Licence (PDP tp your advantage)

Position Details

  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Site: Thornybush Nature Reserve (Private)
  • Provided: Accommodation and uniform
  • Location: Onsite
  • Work cycle: 3 on 1 off with a possibility of 6 on 2 off
  • Remuneration: Cash + 7,5% contribution to provident.
