Sabi Sand Nature Reserve

The Sabi Sand is a world-famous private game reserve that was pioneered by local landowners in the 1950s. Like Thornybush Nature Reserve, it shares a fenceless border with the Kruger National Park and teems with great numbers of well-habituated wildlife. The rich biodiversity and prolific wildlife in the area is also a result of the relative abundance of water from the Sabie and Sand Rivers and their many tributaries, such as the seasonal Mayaleti River. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to the Big Five, predators and plains game, and if you’re looking for leopards, this is the best place to see these most majestic and elusive cats.
